Charting the R and D roadmap of the Philippines. This was the theme of the 4th ERDT (Engineering Research and Development for Technology) Conference held on February 19, 2010 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. Renowned speakers from the US, China, Australia, Japan and Korea shared their first hand experiences and insights on Engineering R and D. DOST Secretary Estrella F. Alabastro delivered the keynote address and talked about the R and D Perspectives in the Philippines. It was attended by around 600 - comprised of faculty members and students from many universities in the country.
ERDT is collboration between the Department of Science and Technology and a consortium of the best engineering schools in the country: Univesity of the Philippines Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, Central Luzon State University, Mapua Institute of Technology, Mindanao State University, University of San Carlos and UP Los Banos. It was started in 2007 and aims to reach a critical mass of engineers with advanced degrees, forge collaborations with each other, and promote a culture of R and D in engineering.
